One way you can help us is to volunteer your time to SpiritAtPlay and in turn help the horses in our care. Volunteering doesn’t have to be a long term commitment; you can come along to help out as a one-off or on a regular basis.
Our volunteers say it’s incredibly rewarding! Please be aware our volunteering roles are not necessarily hands on with the horses, but all volunteer work directly impacts on the care of the horses.
We have various roles for you to get involved in. Volunteers must be over 16 years old, however, we do offer work some opportunities by special arrangement with schools for those under 16. Please email us with your specific requirements. Any of our volunteering roles may include contact with visitors; we do expect all team members to act in a responsible way and in the spirit of SpiritAtPlay.
Always ask for help if you are not sure! We might ask volunteers to register with the DBS (disclosure and barring service) to ensure the children and vulnerable adults are protected. We have a variety of volunteer jobs to do:
Alongside the volunteering programme for individuals, we also welcome support from groups who can spend the day donating their time and hard work to help us. Whether your group is a company, club or just friends getting together, we welcome enquiries to help us out for a day. The projects that we could have available for groups include:
Any of these will take place at our horse centre at Illston on the Hill LE7 9EG Group sizes can vary between 5 and 10 persons of any age, gender and capability. Please get in touch if you are looking for a group volunteering opportunity, we will discuss ideas and dates with you.
